Islamophobia means prejudice, hostility or discrimination towards Muslims or people perceived to be Muslim. Examples include assuming Muslims are dangerous or terrorists, attacking someone for wearing Islamic clothing, discriminating against Muslims at work, or treating an entire Muslim community as responsible for something an extremist group has done.

There are around two billion Muslims around the world, living in many different countries and holding an enormous range of political and religious beliefs.
Holding all Muslims responsible for the actions of Hamas, ISIS or another armed group would therefore be both inaccurate and prejudiced.
